Tropicana Gardens Mall, 1million square feet retail space located in the affluent neighborhood of Tropicana Indah, offering an array of tenancies from lifestyle to dining and fashion.
Inspired by its name, the mall’s interior takes a cue from nature, inspiring the concept “Into the Woods”. It aims at bringing its user(s) into an environment that almost mimics nature in its simplest from while also being synonymous with the building’s organic architecture.
Driven by nature’s elements, the character of the space derives from 3 main components- fluidity, verticality and growth.
Fluidity, inspiring movement and the idea of a space that flows organically akin to nature and its forms. Amplified by the building’s architectural layout that incorporates gentle curves and bends allowing its user to meander through them, a convergence point is created at the heart of the mall, the atrium. Looking up, from the lower floors one is able to notice a gentle twist within the atriums as they rise, lending to the effect of movement, like leaves gently twirling in the wind. An effect that extends beyond the voids into the dome, where angled vertical groove lines further enhance the illusion.
Verticality. Simple linear forms in warm honey timber tones don the interior corridors creating a warm and familiar atmosphere as if surrounded by lofty trees in the woods supplemented by little pockets of greenery that poke out from the walls.
Growth, bringing life and warmth to the space. As its name and concept suggests, this is space wouldn’t be complete without greenery or a garden. The concourse atrium is home to the signature hanging garden. Lush greenery is suspended and from the perimeter atrium and extends itself into horizontal timber strips, like tree branches in a forest canopy.
