About This Project

Although being refurbished rooms of Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort & Spa maintained previous village style concept yet with contemporary touch.

The makeover resulted in subtle finishing and highlighting each of 350 guestrooms from Deluxe rooms to Meritus Club Suites. Hotel design is facing more and more requirements. Successful hotel needs to fulfill expectations of the widest group of guests and maintain individual style at the same time. Definition of modern luxury must be integrated into the cozy and down-to-earth retreat design. Therefore makeover of Meritus Pelangi Beach Resort and Spa suites was challenging, but gave fruitful results.

Located in Langkawi Island, hotel could not be unimpressed by nature, which surrounds it – amazing lush tropical fauna is incorporated with the design in various ways. The main concept of suites was inspired by traditional Malaysian village cottage with a dose of contemporary resort chic. Overall use of earthy tones reinforces laid back ambience – necessary condition of soothing holidays.

Every refurbished suite is a modern twist on traditional wooden villa. Upon arrival, guests’ attention is focused on artwork inspired by tropical flowers. Vertically displayed and punctuated with delicate timber wall paneling creates the illusion of additional height. Moreover feeling of spacious, but cozy interior is enhanced by finished in wood double-volume celling. Old village style is further integrated into the design in rugs inspired by traditional Malaysian ‘ikat’ pattern. Bathroom maintains the overall suite character, but as a centerpiece features marble vanity counter top, which resembles tree bark. Suites of Meritus Pelangi Resort and Spa successfully blend tradition with nature in every detail.
